Lyn graduated from The School of the Art Institute, Chicago, 1995 earning a BFA with a Major in Drawing and minor in painting. Wildlife and animal art was her only focus and fought to learn as much as possible including studying animals at The Field Museum in Chicago Illinois. She was invited to go to the upper level of the museum to study bones and anatomy in the teaching section of the museum. She then attended Calumet Colleg of St. Joseph, Whiting, Indiana and was awarded a BS with a Major in Art Eduction. She was licenced by the State of Indiana for teaching art grades K-12. Her first teaching position was with Crown Point Communitiy schools, high school art. Unfortunately for her, she was riffed as her positon was lost due to finances with the corporation. She was hired with Thea Bowman Leadership Academy, Gary Indiana teaching art K-8. She returned to her community in Crown Point when the position was available 2 years later and is still currently teaching for Crown Point as an elementary art teacher.
Zentangle has been a long time passion for her and she practiced the method for several years before becoming certified in September 2022. She now teaches the method in her community, to her students in school and out of school to adults.
She resides in Crown Point with her husband, her son and 6 cats. She is also passionate about cats and has helped population control through TNR (trap, neuter, release) and supports ICS TNR, Westville, Indiana. She has helped many people and the community of Winfield by educating and supporting people with TNR. She has a colony of 2.
She also has Roy, a 15 year old horse that she does dressage with and local competions. Horses have been a life long passion as she started at 5 years old.
Lyn continues to create her own art, and does Zentangle daily outside of teaching in her home studio.
